30 Years Under the Safelight
Hi, I’m Giliane Mansfeldt. My darkroom journey began 30 years ago when I pulled my very first B&W print from a tray of developer as an 11-year-old middle schooler. That single spark turned into a lifelong obsession with analog craft and a full-time career in photography.
As the owner of Giliane E. Mansfeldt Photography, I founded The Saint Paul Darkroom to bring those three decades of film processing and fine-art printmaking experience to our local photographic community. Whether you’re loading your very first roll of 35mm film or refining your contrast control under the enlarger, I’m here to give you the equipment, hands-on instruction, and personal mentorship you need to master the silver print.
What We Offer
B&W FILM CLASSES
Beginner to advanced instruction covering 35mm camera controls, film exposure, tank developing, and chemistry safety.
ENLARGING & PRINTING WORKSHOPS
Learn fine-art printmaking, contrast control, exposure timing, dodging, and burning on traditional paper.
SUPERVISED DARKROOM PASSES
Rent dedicated hourly station time with access to Beseler 23C enlargers, grain focusers, easels, and wet bench trays.
1-ON-1 MENTORSHIP
Tailored, private instruction designed to help you refine your printmaking technique, troubleshoot negatives, or build a darkroom workflow.
